As a kid, being sent to my room was not a punishment. I loved my room. My room was where all my books were. I had two shelves of books that were mine–that I had accumulated from Scholastic Book Orders or had received as gifts. I also had my stack of library books there. Because we weren’t allowed to go to friends’ houses on Sundays, I spent the days in my room reading.
I never quit reading. When a vacation was coming up, my mom and I would go to the library and “stock up” so that we wouldn’t “run out” in the week we were gone.
In college, my favorite classes were my literature courses–even the Hemingway class I took in grad class that required me to read seven of his novels in seven weeks (yes, that included For Whom the Bell Tolls).
Now I am a high school English teacher and part time community college adjunct instructor. I am also a newish mom (still feels new to me even after 10 months). My husband and I don’t get a ton of free time, but the precious little I DO get, I spend blogging and/or reading.
I started this blog as a way for me to “blog out” what I read and how I feel about it. I hope it can also serve as a guide to people looking for a good book, and as a conversation starter for fellow bibliophiles.
